Setup Scenarios & Suitable Tank Capacity
- As a Primary Filter (20–40 Gallons / 75–150L): It is excellent for tanks holding delicate or small species like shrimp, guppies, killifish, dwarf cichlids, and fry. It provides gentle suction that will not accidentally trap tiny inhabitants.
- As a Discus / Breeding Filter (Up to 50 Gallons / 190L): The large sponge surface provides ample area for beneficial bio-bacteria. This helps stabilize water parameters in bare-bottom breeding tanks.
- As a Secondary / Pre-Filter (Up to 150 Gallons / 570L+): You can connect it to the intake of an external canister or top filter. Manufacturers note it can support biological loads in tanks up to 680 liters when used alongside other filtration.
Tips for Operation
- Air Pump Required: This filter requires a separate air pump and airline tubing to function. Choose a pump rated for a 40–50 gallon tank to get optimal suction.
- Cleaning: Never rinse the sponge under raw tap water. Gently squeeze it inside a bucket of extracted tank water every 2 to 4 weeks to protect the beneficial bacteria
